Genetics
Genetics aims to provide you with understanding of the law of heredity and variation of organisms. Consideration is given to the material base of heredity, the law of segregation, independent assortment and linkage and crossing-over; chromosome aberration, gene mutation, the relationship between gene and environment, quantitative inheritance, population genetics, gene, genome as well as gene expression and regulation.
Cell Biology
Cell biology is in close relationship with other courses such as biochemistry, genetic, molecular biology and medical science. This course introduces the basic concepts and fundamental theories of cellular biology including the structure and function of membranes and cytoskeletons; molecular basis of cellular structure, organization, proliferation, and movement; differentiation and functions of specialized cell types.
Plant Physiology
Based on physiological and biochemical processes of plant development, plant physiology introduces the physical, chemical and molecular biological mechanisms in the processes. And it reveals the growth, development and differentiation rules of plant by studying the plant and the function of environmental condition.
Microbiology
Microbiology is an introductory course dealing with bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms. The contents will cover microbial morphology, reproduction, nutrition, growth, metabolism, genetics, mutation, pathogenicity, immune response, and practical application in industry and agriculture.
Plant Biology
Introduction to the structure, diversity, and physiology of plants with an emphasis on evolutionary relationships and adaptations to life on land. Topics include growth, resource acquisition, interactions with other organisms (i.e., fungi, bacteria, insects), reproduction, and survival in extreme environments. Laboratory sessions provide an overview of plant and diversity and an introduction to basic physiological processes.

Agricultural entomology
Insects are the most diverse group of animals on earth and are particularly well suited for the study of many basic biological principles. On the other hand, insects pose major threats to the production and storage of food and fiber, and to the health and comfort of people and domestic animals. Agricultural entomology is the important part of plant protection field. It is also the important course for the undergraduate of plant protection specialty. The Agricultural Entomology major is offered primarily for students whose professional orientation is directed toward either basic studies of insects or concerns about the protection of crops, stored products, domestic animals, and humans from the direct effect of insects or from the disease organisms they might spread.
Agricultural meteorology
This course mainly involves some basic theories and fundamental rules concerning the effect of agro-meteorological elements (light, heat, water, gas) on the growth and development of agricultural crops as well as the control technologies on weather conditions and the basic methods to establish agro-meteorological models. It lays a sound foundation for the follow-up professional courses.
Agricultural Plant Pathology
Agricultural Plant Pathology is one of the core courses for students major in Plant Protection. The content of this course includes the symptom of disease, the characteristics of plant pathogen, the disease epidemics, disease prediction and forecasting, and the disease management. By taking this course, students will get a deeply understanding of the principles of plant pathology and learn the strategies of integreted disease management . This course will emphasize on the principles of disease development and the management of major crop diseases. It is a joint between the course of Introduction of Plant Pathology and other courses in plant pathology field in depth.
General entomology
This course includes three parts: 1. general entomology; 2. principle and theory of agricultural pest management; 3. analyze some examples of pest management.
Pesticide science
Pesticide Science is one of the important courses for the students in Plant Protection discipline to study comprehensive theory knowledge and the basic experimental skill as well as the essential method for analyzing and solving the problems. The main contents include the agricultural chemicals, biogenic pesticides and other pesticides, the preparation formulation processing and the scientific applying technology, the resistance of pests to pesticides and the management of resistance, the catabolic behavior of pesticides in environment and its influence on the ecosystem, the method for the evaluation of control efficacy of pesticides in the field and the technology for bioassay of pesticides against the pests in laboratory and quality testing and so on. The course will focus on the agricultural pharmacy theory and the application technology, and pay attention to the classification of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. The basic mechanisms of the pesticides to control pests will be specially introduced. And also supplement the new contents concerning the screening and application of novel pesticides and their environmental toxicology. Moreover, the materials and the related information in teaching can combine the basic theory with the new knowledge from the development of agriculture pharmacy discipline in recent years.
