The prerequisites differ depending on whether you plan to teach at the elementary or secondary level. Each applicant who submits either the online Graduate School application or MIT supplemental department application will have their transcript evaluated to determine if prerequisites have been met. Elementary Prerequisites – College level coursework in American government, US History, Economics, mathematics, life science, physical science, (a minimum of one science lab) and geography. Applicants must have at least a C in each prerequisite course or the course must be retaken prior to admission.
